# Piwik PRO tools in Cogny

Cogny's Piwik PRO integration exposes 23 tools (17 read, 4 write, 2 destructive) to an AI agent over MCP. The same tools are available on every plan, from your own AI client or inside the Cogny app.

- **Read** (17): only reads data.
- **Write** (4): creates or changes something.
- **Destructive** (2): deletes, removes or replaces something.

Over MCP your own AI client asks before it runs a write. To take a tool away from your agent, block it in Settings → Integrations.

## Notes

Piwik PRO connects with API credentials (a Client ID and a Client secret from Menu → your email → API keys) and your account address, usually `https://yourcompany.piwik.pro`. The credentials act as the Piwik PRO user who created them, so that user's permissions on each site or app decide what works. View permission is enough for every report. Piwik PRO asks for manage permission or the owner role to set up goals, so `create_goal`, `update_goal` and `delete_goal` need that.

This is Piwik PRO, the commercial analytics suite at piwik.pro. Matomo, the open-source project that used to be called Piwik, is a separate integration.

Reports and lists return 100 rows by default and at most 1,000 per call. Piwik PRO allows 60 report queries a minute per account and caches each query's result for 10 minutes.

`run_query` accepts any dimension and metric from Piwik PRO's analytics query API, with filters, sorting and paging. The ready-made reports cover traffic, pages, sources, campaigns, countries, devices, custom events and goal conversions.

Annotations are created private by default: only the Piwik PRO user behind the credentials sees them. Pass `visibility` as `public` to show one to everyone with access to the site.

## Known gaps

- There is no read-only credential. What the connection can change follows the permissions of the Piwik PRO user who created the API key. Keep the write tools set to ask first.
- No tools for raw session or event logs. Reports are aggregated.
- No real-time reports.
- No tools for funnels, custom reports or dashboards.
- Custom dimensions, Tag Manager tags and Customer Data Platform audiences can be listed but not created or changed. No tools for Tag Manager triggers, variables or publishing.
- `list_audiences` needs the Customer Data Platform module on your Piwik PRO plan.
- No tools for adding or editing sites, users or permissions.
- A new goal counts conversions from the moment it is created. Piwik PRO does not apply it to past sessions.
- The account has to be reachable from the internet over https. A Piwik PRO that is only available inside a private network cannot be connected.

| `get_traffic_summary` | Read | Get the headline traffic numbers for a site: sessions, visitors, page views, bounce rate, average session time and goal conversions. |
| `get_pages` | Read | Get page performance for a site: page views, unique page views, entries, exits and page bounce rate per page URL or title. |
| `get_sources` | Read | Get where a site's sessions came from: channels, source / medium pairs, referring URLs or search keywords, with bounce rate and goal conversions. |
| `get_campaigns` | Read | Get campaign traffic for a site: sessions, visitors, bounce rate and goal conversions per campaign and its source / medium. |
| `get_countries` | Read | Get a site's sessions, visitors, bounce rate and goal conversions per visitor country. |

| `get_events` | Read | Get a site's custom events with their counts and summed values, grouped by event category, action and name. |
| `get_goal_conversions` | Read | Get goal conversions and goal revenue for a site, per goal, optionally for one goal or per day, week or month. |
| `list_goals` | Read | List the goals defined for a site, with what triggers each one and its revenue. |
| `list_annotations` | Read | List the annotations on a site's reporting timeline, optionally for a date range. |
| `list_custom_dimensions` | Read | List the custom dimensions set up for a site, with the slot each one reports under. |
| `list_tags` | Read | List the Tag Manager tags on a site, with each tag's template, consent type and whether it is active and published. |
| `list_audiences` | Read | List the Customer Data Platform audiences defined for a site, with their membership duration and author. |
| `create_goal` | Write | Create a goal on a site that counts a conversion when a session matches a page URL, page title, download, outlink or custom event. |
| `update_goal` | Write | Update an existing goal's name, trigger, match pattern, revenue or description. |
| `delete_goal` | Destructive | Delete a goal from a site, so it stops counting conversions. |
| `create_annotation` | Write | Create an annotation on a site's reporting timeline for a given date. |
| `update_annotation` | Write | Update the date, text or visibility of an existing annotation. |
| `delete_annotation` | Destructive | Delete an annotation from a site's reporting timeline. |

Exact input schemas come from `tools/list` once Piwik PRO is connected; the free plan is enough to check.

Missing something? Your agent can ask for it with `request_feature`.
