Attio Is Live in Cogny: Read and Drive Your CRM from an Agent

Attio is the modern, flexible CRM a growing number of sales and growth teams run — records that shape to how you sell, pipelines you reconfigure without a ticket to your admin, and a clean API underneath. Until today none of that was reachable from a Cogny agent. Now it is. Attio is a live MCP integration — and unlike the read-only CRM connectors in the catalog, this one can write back.

No developer app, no OAuth flow to approve: one workspace access token created in Attio in about thirty seconds, pasted once into Settings → Cogny Managed MCPs, and your agent is in.

    TL;DR

    • Attio is live now. Connect it with a workspace access token from your warehouse Settings → Cogny Managed MCPs.
    • 23 tools across the data model, records, lists (pipelines), notes and tasks. The read tools cover every object type — companies, people, deals, users and any custom objects — and the write tools let an agent update records, upsert on an attribute, move deals between stages, and create notes and tasks.
    • Writes are opt-in by scope. Create the token with only read scopes and every read tool works while the write tools explain they need the matching write scope; add the write scopes and they run — each write still behind Cogny's standard approval gate. There is no hard record deletion: the closest thing is removing a record from a pipeline stage, which is marked destructive.
    • The schema is self-describing: list_object_attributes returns each object's attributes and their types, so an agent can build valid create/update values for your exact setup — including custom objects — without guessing.
    • The CRM scheduled templates (Buying Intent Signals, B2B Sales Pipeline, Closed-Won Attribution, Billing ↔ CRM Reconciliation) now recognize Attio alongside HubSpot, Pipedrive and Upsales.
    • Works from any MCP client on app.cogny.com/mcp.
    • Included in Cogny Solo ($9/mo); bring your own agent and the standard MCP tools run under fair use.

What you can do with it

    AreaWhat Claude can do
Data modelList the object types in your workspace (companies, people, deals, users, plus custom objects); read an object's attributes and their types so values are built correctly
RecordsList and filter records by object with sorting; read one record; find a company by email_domain or a person by email_addresses
Write recordsCreate a record; upsert on an attribute (match on email_domain or email_addresses and Attio updates or creates); update the values on an existing record
Lists / pipelinesList lists (pipeline stages) and who is in each; add a record to a list; move a record between stages; remove a record from a stage
Notes & tasksRead notes and tasks; write a note onto a record; create a follow-up task with a deadline and assignees; mark a task done or change its assignee

In plain terms: "Upsert these three new leads into people, matching on email, and tag each with the account that owns their domain." "Find every deal in the Proposal stage that hasn't been touched in two weeks, and log a follow-up task to the owner." "What's the schema of my custom 'projects' object, and can you create one?" The answers — and the saves — happen against Attio's own API, not a spreadsheet.

The token decides the blast radius

Attio access tokens are scoped when you create them. That maps cleanly onto how Cogny treats CRM permissions:

    • Read-only token — every read tool works: schema, records, lists, notes, tasks. The write tools answer with a clear message that the token is missing a write scope. Nothing changes.
    • Token with write scopes — the write tools unlock, and each one runs behind Cogny's standard approval gate (writes stay ask-first until you allow them in Settings). A note you log or a stage you move a deal through is real and visible to your team in Attio, so they're gated the same way as every other Cogny write.

There's no hard record deletion in this connector. The only destructive tool removes a record from a pipeline stage, and it's marked as such — so an agent doesn't nudge a deal out of a stage by accident.

    The schema is self-describing

Attio's power is that the data model is yours — custom objects and attributes, not just the standard trio. The connector leans on that: list_object_attributes returns each object's attribute api_slug, type and format, so an agent builds create/update values that match your objects rather than assuming a fixed shape. Ask it to write a record and it inspects the object's schema first.

Two ways in: chat or scheduled

Ask interactively from any MCP client, or enable a CRM scheduled template. Buying Intent Signals, B2B Sales Pipeline Weekly Signals, Closed-Won Source Attribution and Billing ↔ CRM Reconciliation now recognize Attio alongside HubSpot, Pipedrive and Upsales, so the same recurring reports you'd run on those CRMs run on Attio.

    How to connect it

    1. In Attio, click the dropdown beside your workspace name → Workspace settings → Developers, then + New access token. Grant it the read scopes you want — record, list entry, note, task, object configuration and user — and the write scopes (record, list entry, note, task) if you want to use the write tools. Copy the token.
    2. In your warehouse Settings → Cogny Managed MCPs, click Connect on the Attio card.
    3. Paste the token.

The token is stored encrypted and scoped to the single workspace. A read-only token still connects cleanly — the write tools just tell you they need a write scope. Disconnect any time with one click, and revoke the token back in Attio's Developers screen if you ever stop using Cogny.

    On trust

Every tool carries MCP behavior annotations, so Cogny's UI and Claude.ai connectors know which ones read, which write, and which touch a destructive path. Reads are read-only; creates and updates are idempotent where repeating them is safe; removing a record from a pipeline stage is flagged destructive. Notes and pipeline moves are visible to your whole team in Attio, so they're treated as the real changes they are.

If your team runs on Attio — or you're evaluating a CRM your agent should live inside — this is the connector that puts your deals, people and pipeline one prompt away. Connect it from your Cogny dashboard and ask your first question.
