ChatGPT Business Hub: OpenAI's "Search Console" for ChatGPT (What We Know So Far)

Last updated: 7 November 2026. This is a developing story. OpenAI has not announced the feature; everything below comes from early sightings. We update this page as more is confirmed. See the update log at the bottom.

OpenAI is building a tool for businesses that does for ChatGPT roughly what Google Search Console does for Google: you claim your business, see how often ChatGPT shows you, and count the clicks you get from it. The banner reads "Claim your business in ChatGPT."

It was reported by Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable on 6 November 2026, after Juozas Kaziukėnas spotted it inside ChatGPT and posted about it on LinkedIn.

    TL;DR

    • What it is: a business area in ChatGPT, reported as part of a larger Business Hub, where a verified business can claim its presence in ChatGPT.
    • What it measures: impressions (how many times your business appeared in ChatGPT responses) and clicks (clicks on links to your website), counted daily and shown as a chart.
    • What you can control: add your latest products, keep your business information up to date, and let a business agent answer customers' questions "with context you control."
    • Who gets it: only businesses that have verified ownership, for example by connecting a Shopify store.
    • What it won't show: no prompt data, no user data, no competitor benchmark, no ranking.
    • When: not launched. First traces in August 2026; a banner in early November 2026. "It seems to be getting close to launch."

What OpenAI's business tool does, as reported

The banner lists three things a business can do:

Promise on the bannerWhat it means in practice
See how your business shows upTrack how often your business is mentioned in ChatGPT conversations: impressions and clicks per day.
Show customers what you offerAdd your latest products and keep your business information up to date.
Help customers make decisionsLet your business agent answer customers' questions with context you control.

On measurement, Kaziukėnas described it as measuring "both impressions and clicks: number of times a business appeared in ChatGPT responses and number of clicks on links to their website. It tracks those events daily and shows them as a chart."

That is the first time a business would get first-party numbers from ChatGPT itself. Until now, the only ways to see your ChatGPT presence were referral traffic in your own analytics, and third-party tools that ask ChatGPT questions and record the answers.

    What it does not show

The early version is a counter, not a diagnosis. According to Kaziukėnas, it does not show:

    • Prompt data: which questions you appeared for.
    • User data: who saw or clicked.
    • Competitor benchmarks or rankings: whether a competitor appeared more often, or ahead of you.

So it tells you that impressions went up or down, not why. His read: on its own it won't explain why mentions or clicks change, but combined with tools that track prompts it gives you accurate first-party data on whether your GEO/AEO work is paying off.

In Search Console terms: you get the total impressions and clicks line, but not the Queries table.

Who will be able to use it

Reports say the feature is only available to businesses that have verified their ownership, with connecting a Shopify store given as an example. Other verification methods haven't been reported yet. If you sell on Shopify, that is the most likely first door in.

    When it launches

There's no date. Kaziukėnas said he saw its first steps as early as August 2026 and a banner in early November 2026, and that "it seems to be getting close to launch." OpenAI hasn't commented. We'll update this section when it opens.

How to prepare before it launches

You don't need to wait for OpenAI to start measuring. When Business Hub opens, its chart starts on the day you claim your business, so a baseline you build now is what you will compare it with.

    1. Know which questions mention you today. Business Hub won't tell you the prompts, so build your own list: 8–10 questions a buyer asks without naming you ("best CRM for a 10-person agency"), plus your competitors. Run them through ChatGPT and record whether you're mentioned, where you rank and which sources were cited. Cogny's AI Visibility check does this for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity in one call and stores every result.
    2. Measure the clicks you already get. In GA4, sessions with source chatgpt.com are the click side of what Business Hub will report. Note the weekly number now.
    3. Get your facts straight everywhere ChatGPT reads them. Business Hub lets you add products and business info, but ChatGPT will still read your website and the pages it cites for your category. Prices, plans, product names and locations should match across all of them. Old numbers on a forgotten page get quoted.
    4. Earn mentions on the sources ChatGPT already cites. A visibility check lists the domains ChatGPT cites for each question, usually review sites, directories, communities and comparison pages. Being listed there is how you get into the answer in the first place.
    5. If you're on Shopify, keep your catalog clean. Shopify is the reported verification route, so product titles, descriptions, prices and availability in your store are likely what ChatGPT will draw on.

    How Cogny fits alongside it

Business Hub will give you ChatGPT's own counts. Cogny gives you the part it leaves out, and the work that follows:

    • The prompts. AI Visibility asks your buyers' questions and records whether you're mentioned, your rank against named competitors, your share of voice and every cited source, in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.
    • The trend. Run the same prompt set every week so the weeks are comparable: the AI Visibility Tracker report on Cloud, or a loop you create from the chat on Solo, Cogny AI and Cogny Pro.
    • The fix, measured. A content or SEO change becomes a ticket that Cogny measures afterwards and closes as worked, partial, didn't work or inconclusive, next to your Search Console, GA4 and ad data.
    • From your own agent. check_ai_visibility and get_ai_visibility_history are on your workspace's MCP endpoint, so Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can run checks themselves.

AI Visibility is on every plan, including Free. Each check costs credits for the engines it asks; reading history is free. When Business Hub's numbers become available, we'll look at bringing them in next to the prompt-level data, and say so here.

    Open questions

What we don't know yet, and will fill in as it's confirmed:

    • Which verification methods besides Shopify will be accepted.
    • Whether it opens worldwide or in some countries first.
    • Whether the data can be exported or read through an API.
    • How the "business agent" works, and where it appears in ChatGPT.
    • Whether it will be free.
    • How far back the impressions and clicks history goes.
