Cogny Now Reads Your Website: Brand & Context, Built for You on Every Plan

An AI agent is only as good as what it knows about you. Give a brilliant marketer no onboarding and you get smart, generic advice that sounds like your competitors. Until today that was Cogny's first chat for most people. The settings for company, customer and brand voice existed, but almost nobody filled them in.

So now Cogny fills them in itself. You give it your website, and it learns your business before you've asked it anything.

    TL;DR

    • One question at signup: your website. With a work email it's already filled in. You can skip it and add it later at the top of Settings → Brand & Context.
    • About a minute and a half later, Cogny knows your company, your offers and prices, who buys, your market, your competitors, how you sound, and your colours and logos.
    • It checks whether ChatGPT recommends you. Cogny asks ChatGPT the questions your buyers ask and records whether you're named, and who is named instead.
    • Connect Google Analytics 4 and Cogny writes your measurement plan: your KPIs and the exact events behind them, what your tracked fields mean, and the tracking problems it found. A funnel from visit to conversion appears on your start page. Both are editable.
    • Every agent uses it: the chat, the voice agent, loops, tickets, and your own AI (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT) over MCP.
    • Your edits always win. Change anything and Cogny never overwrites it. An agent that wants to change something you wrote has to ask you first.
    • Free on every plan, Free included. It doesn't touch your credits.

What Cogny learns from your site

Cogny reads your homepage plus the pages that say what you sell and to whom: pricing, about, product, customers and FAQ. From those it writes:

    What's in it
CompanyWhat you do, for whom, how it works, and the proof points your site states
OffersEach product or plan with its price as stated, what's included, trials and guarantees. Agents only quote prices and promises from here
Customer fitWho buys: role, company type and size, and the situation that triggers the purchase
MarketThe market you compete in and how buyers in it choose
CompetitorsWho ChatGPT recommends for your buyers' questions, plus other alternatives marked "to verify"
Brand voiceHow you sound, with lines quoted word for word from your site, and what would sound off-brand
Colours and logosRead from your site for anything Cogny designs

It writes only what your site supports. If your prices aren't on the site, the Offers card says so instead of guessing.

More and more buyers ask ChatGPT before they ever search. As part of the build, Cogny writes three questions a buyer would ask when looking for what you sell, without naming you. It asks ChatGPT with web search, then records:

    • whether you were named in each answer,
    • who was named instead,
    • and which sources ChatGPT used.

You'll find the result in your workspace's context as AI visibility, and the companies ChatGPT recommends go straight into Competitors. It's a snapshot rather than tracking. To follow it week by week, ask the chat to check your AI visibility across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, then turn that chat into a loop (Solo and up).

Your measurement plan, written from your data

Analytics teams write a measurement plan so everyone reads the numbers the same way. It says which events make up each KPI, what each tracked field means, and which numbers can't be trusted right now. Agents need exactly the same thing. Without it, an AI sees item_category3 or a key event called FormFillMail and has to guess.

When Google Analytics 4 is connected, Cogny writes the plan for you:

    • Business goals and KPIs: each KPI with the exact GA4 events or metrics it's calculated from, and your target when you've set one.
    • Events: the ones that matter, each marked as active, low volume, not firing or legacy.
    • What the fields mean: your custom dimensions and e-commerce fields in business terms, with the values actually seen.
    • Products and offers in the data: how what you sell shows up in your tracking, or a plain note when it can't be matched.
    • Known data issues, found automatically. Examples: key events that never fire, a payment provider or Google sign-in showing up as a traffic source, checkout return pages counted as landing pages, sessions without a landing page. Every agent checks these before drawing a conclusion from your data.
    • Open questions only you can answer, like your targets.

If you already have a measurement plan of your own in Cogny, it's treated as the source of truth, and Cogny adds what the data shows next to it.

A funnel on your start page

The plan includes the main path from a visit to your conversion, such as Visits → Signed up → Started a trial. It appears on your start page with the number of users at each step over the last 30 days, the share of the step above, and the change from the 30 days before. Press Edit to choose the steps yourself from the events GA4 actually has. Your funnel is kept from then on.

Cogny re-checks the plan every month, so new events, broken events and new tracking problems show up. Any part you've edited stays yours. It's free on every plan.

    One place instead of two

Settings used to have an AI Context Generator tab and a separate Brand tab, and both started empty. They're now one tab, Brand & Context, on every plan:

    • Business: company, offers, customer fit, market, competitors and strategy.
    • Measurement: your measurement plan and the funnel on your start page.
    • Brand: voice, hard rules (things you must never say), colours and fonts, and brand assets.

There's nothing to switch on. Each card shows whether Cogny wrote it or you edited it. Rebuild from website re-reads your site when it changes and keeps everything you edited.

    Your words win

What Cogny writes is a first draft about your business. What you write is the truth. So:

    • A rebuild never touches a card you edited.
    • When an agent wants to change something you wrote (in chat, a ticket, or your own AI over MCP), it has to show you the change and get your yes first. The protection is built into the tool itself, not left to the agent's judgment.
    • Honest by default. Cogny starts your hard rules with a few basic ones for anything published or sent in your name: no numbers, customers or reviews your website can't back up, no guaranteed results, prices only as stated under Offers, no invented testimonials, no unbacked "best" or "#1". It adds a few rules specific to your business on top. Edit them like anything else, and add your own, like a regulated word you may not use.

What it means on each plan

    • Free: the profile and the AI visibility check at signup, so your first chat starts from your business.
    • Solo, Cogny AI and Cogny Pro: chats, skills and loops that know your offers and voice, and your own agent over MCP reads the same profile.
    • Cloud: everything that runs on its own (content, posts, ads and tickets) is written in your voice and held to your offers and rules.

Already have a workspace? Open Settings → Brand & Context, add your website at the top and press Save. Cogny reads it right away.
