Segment CDP Is Now Live in Cogny: Sources, Destinations, Tracking Plans & Engage Audiences for Your Agent

Twilio Segment is the most widely-deployed customer data platform in the market, and until now there was no way to ask your agent "what sources are firing events?" or "how does event volume compare week over week?" — not without exporting to a spreadsheet first. That changes today.

Segment is a live MCP integration in Cogny. Connect a single Public API token and Claude (or any MCP client on app.cogny.com/mcp) can read your CDP in natural language.

    TL;DR

    • Segment is live now. Connect it with a Public API token from Settings → Cogny Managed MCPs.
    • Eleven tools, read-only by design: get_workspace, list_sources, get_source, list_destinations, list_tracking_plans, list_tracking_plan_rules, get_events_volume, list_spaces, list_audiences, get_audience, list_audience_destinations. No write tools — an agent cannot modify your CDP.
    • Supports US and EU data residency — pass the EU base URL in the optional Region field.
    • The Audience Intelligence scheduled template now recommends itself for Segment workspaces (alongside GA4).
    • Works from any MCP client on app.cogny.com/mcp, and from Bash via the Cogny CLI.
    • Included in Cogny Solo ($9/mo).

What you can do with it

    AreaWhat Claude can do
WorkspaceRetrieve workspace name, slug and region
SourcesList all sources (JS, server, mobile, cloud); inspect a single source by slug or ID
DestinationsList all configured destinations with enabled/disabled status
Tracking PlansList plans and inspect their rules (events, traits, properties)
Event volumeQuery ingested event counts by source ID and time window (DAY / HOUR / MONTH granularity)
Engage spacesList Engage spaces; list, read and inspect audience destinations for any audience

In plain terms: "Which sources sent events yesterday and how many?" "What events are in our production tracking plan?" "Which Engage audiences are synced to Meta Ads?" The answers come straight from the Segment Public API without touching a dashboard.

    How to connect it

    1. Open your Segment workspace → Settings → Access Management → Tokens+Create Token.
    2. Choose Public API Token (not Config API Token — those target a different API and won't authenticate here).
    3. Grant Workspace Owner or Workspace Viewer permissions, give it a name (e.g. Cogny), and copy the token on screen — it won't be shown again.
    4. If your workspace is EU-based, note the EU base URL: https://eu1.api.segmentapis.com.
    5. In Settings → Cogny Managed MCPs, click Connect on the Segment card, paste the token and (for EU) the region URL.

One token per workspace. The token is stored encrypted, sent only as the Authorization: Bearer header to the Segment API, and scoped to your single Cogny workspace.

    On trust

This integration is read-only v1 — the proxy registers no write tools, so there is nothing to approve and nothing an agent can accidentally change. Event volume queries are always read-only by API contract; tracking-plan rules and audience definitions are fetched, never mutated.

Works with the Audience Intelligence template

The Audience Intelligence & ICP Validation scheduled template now recognises Segment alongside Google Analytics 4. It maps Segment's Engage audiences, sources and event-volume data into the same buyer-profile and audience-health analysis phases — so if you run a Segment workspace without GA4 (or alongside it), the template kicks in and lets the agent use whichever data source is connected.

Enable it from your warehouse Scheduled → + New scheduled prompt → Audience Intelligence.

If your growth or data team lives in Segment, this is the connector that puts the CDP on the same footing as every other source in your Cogny workspace. Connect it from your Cogny dashboard and ask your first question.
