Contentful MCP for your AI agent

Cogny's Contentful integration exposes 9 tools (9 read) to an AI agent over MCP. The same tools are available on every plan, from your own AI client or inside the Cogny app.

    • 9readonly reads data.
    • 0writecreates or changes something.
    • 0destructivedeletes, removes or replaces something.

Over MCP your own AI client asks before it runs a write. To take a tool away from your agent, block it in Settings → Integrations. Plans, approvals and limits

    set it up.

Add Cogny to your AI client once, then connect Contentful in Cogny. Every Contentful tool below appears in the client.

    • Claude CodeRun claude mcp add --transport http cogny https://app.cogny.com/mcp, then authorise in the browser.
    • Claude.aiSettings → Connectors → Add custom connector, URL https://app.cogny.com/mcp, then log in and pick your workspace.
    • ChatGPTSettings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode → Create app, URL https://app.cogny.com/mcp, authentication OAuth.
    • CursorIn Cogny, Settings → Data & Integrations → Connect AI Clients shows the block to paste into .mcp.json, with an API key.
    • CodexRun codex mcp add cogny --url https://app.cogny.com/mcp.

    Connecting and limits

Connecting asks for a Content Delivery API access token, the Space ID and, optionally, an Environment ID and the EU host for EU-hosted spaces. Cogny never asks for a Content Management API token.

    One Contentful space per workspace.

    Known gaps

    • Read-only by design: no tool creates, edits, publishes or deletes an entry or asset. Changes to content are made in Contentful.
    • The Content Delivery API returns published content, so drafts and unpublished changes are not visible to your agent.

    what each tool does.

Read 9 · only reads data

    • contentful_get_spaceReadResolve and return the authenticated Contentful space.
    • contentful_list_entriesReadList entries in the environment, optionally filtered by content type.
    • contentful_get_entryReadGet full detail for one entry by ID.
    • contentful_list_assetsReadList media assets (images, files) in the environment.
    • contentful_get_assetReadGet full detail for one media asset by ID.
    • contentful_list_content_typesReadList the content types (schemas) defined in the environment.
    • contentful_get_content_typeReadGet the full schema for one content type by ID.
    • contentful_list_localesReadList the locales configured for the space/environment.
    • contentful_list_tagsReadList the tags available for organizing entries and assets.

Exact input schemas come from tools/list once Contentful is connected; the free plan is enough to check. Missing something? Your agent can ask for it with request_feature.
