Magento MCP for your AI agent

Cogny's Magento integration exposes 20 tools (17 read, 3 write) to an AI agent over MCP. The same tools are available on every plan, from your own AI client or inside the Cogny app.

    • 17readonly reads data.
    • 3writecreates or changes something.
    • 0destructivedeletes, removes or replaces something.

Over MCP your own AI client asks before it runs a write. To take a tool away from your agent, block it in Settings → Integrations. Plans, approvals and limits

    set it up.

Add Cogny to your AI client once, then connect Magento in Cogny. Every Magento tool below appears in the client.

    • Claude CodeRun claude mcp add --transport http cogny https://app.cogny.com/mcp, then authorise in the browser.
    • Claude.aiSettings → Connectors → Add custom connector, URL https://app.cogny.com/mcp, then log in and pick your workspace.
    • ChatGPTSettings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode → Create app, URL https://app.cogny.com/mcp, authentication OAuth.
    • CursorIn Cogny, Settings → Data & Integrations → Connect AI Clients shows the block to paste into .mcp.json, with an API key.
    • CodexRun codex mcp add cogny --url https://app.cogny.com/mcp.

    Notes

Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce (2.3 and later) are connected from Settings → Integrations with your store address and the Access Token of an integration you create in the Magento admin (System → Extensions → Integrations). On Magento 2.4.4 and later, also set Stores → Configuration → Services → OAuth → Consumer Settings → "Allow OAuth Access Tokens to be used as standalone Bearer tokens" to Yes, or every call is refused.

The integration's Resource Access decides what Cogny can see and change. For every tool to work, tick Sales (orders, credit memos), Catalog (products, categories, inventory), Customers, Marketing → Cart Price Rules and Stores → Settings → Stores. Leave out write access to products and inventory if you want the connection read-only.

Writes are limited to regular prices, scheduled sale (special) prices and stock quantities, and stay ask-first until you allow them in Settings. Sales totals and best sellers cover up to 5,000 orders per call, in the store's timezone and base currency.

    Known gaps

    • Catalog price rules can't be read or changed: Magento has no REST endpoint for them. Cart price rules and coupons are covered.
    • No order actions: Cogny doesn't invoice, ship, cancel or refund orders, and doesn't create or delete products, customers or coupons.
    • Storefront analytics (sessions, carts, conversion rate) aren't in the Magento API; connect GA4 for those.
    • The store must be reachable over the public internet on port 443. If it only accepts known addresses, allow Cogny's egress address shown in the connect dialog.
