Piwik PRO MCP for your AI agent

Cogny's Piwik PRO integration exposes 23 tools (17 read, 4 write, 2 destructive) to an AI agent over MCP. The same tools are available on every plan, from your own AI client or inside the Cogny app.

    • 17readonly reads data.
    • 4writecreates or changes something.
    • 2destructivedeletes, removes or replaces something.

Over MCP your own AI client asks before it runs a write. To take a tool away from your agent, block it in Settings → Integrations. Plans, approvals and limits

    set it up.

Add Cogny to your AI client once, then connect Piwik PRO in Cogny. Every Piwik PRO tool below appears in the client.

    • Claude CodeRun claude mcp add --transport http cogny https://app.cogny.com/mcp, then authorise in the browser.
    • Claude.aiSettings → Connectors → Add custom connector, URL https://app.cogny.com/mcp, then log in and pick your workspace.
    • ChatGPTSettings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode → Create app, URL https://app.cogny.com/mcp, authentication OAuth.
    • CursorIn Cogny, Settings → Data & Integrations → Connect AI Clients shows the block to paste into .mcp.json, with an API key.
    • CodexRun codex mcp add cogny --url https://app.cogny.com/mcp.

    Notes

Piwik PRO connects with API credentials (a Client ID and a Client secret from Menu → your email → API keys) and your account address, usually https://yourcompany.piwik.pro. The credentials act as the Piwik PRO user who created them, so that user's permissions on each site or app decide what works. View permission is enough for every report. Piwik PRO asks for manage permission or the owner role to set up goals, so create_goal, update_goal and delete_goal need that.

This is Piwik PRO, the commercial analytics suite at piwik.pro. Matomo, the open-source project that used to be called Piwik, is a separate integration.

Reports and lists return 100 rows by default and at most 1,000 per call. Piwik PRO allows 60 report queries a minute per account and caches each query's result for 10 minutes.

run_query accepts any dimension and metric from Piwik PRO's analytics query API, with filters, sorting and paging. The ready-made reports cover traffic, pages, sources, campaigns, countries, devices, custom events and goal conversions.

Annotations are created private by default: only the Piwik PRO user behind the credentials sees them. Pass visibility as public to show one to everyone with access to the site.

    Known gaps

    • There is no read-only credential. What the connection can change follows the permissions of the Piwik PRO user who created the API key. Keep the write tools set to ask first.
    • No tools for raw session or event logs. Reports are aggregated.
    • No real-time reports.
    • No tools for funnels, custom reports or dashboards.
    • Custom dimensions, Tag Manager tags and Customer Data Platform audiences can be listed but not created or changed. No tools for Tag Manager triggers, variables or publishing.
    • list_audiences needs the Customer Data Platform module on your Piwik PRO plan.
    • No tools for adding or editing sites, users or permissions.
    • A new goal counts conversions from the moment it is created. Piwik PRO does not apply it to past sessions.
    • The account has to be reachable from the internet over https. A Piwik PRO that is only available inside a private network cannot be connected.
